We’re excited to spotlight one of our inspiring partners, PeacePlayers, an organization that uses the power of basketball to connect young people, build leadership skills, and promote peace. PeacePlayers runs free after-school programs, leadership development sessions, and one-off events like basketball clinics growing outreach across NYC’s boroughs.
We first connected with PeacePlayers through our partner, Nike, who supported the transformation of the PS 80/Corlears schoolyard on Henry Street, which opened a year ago, and PS 107X in the Bronx. As part of the celebration, PeacePlayers hosted an energetic basketball clinic for students at Corlears. You can check out some photos from the clinic below, and see the joy and teamwork in action.

PeacePlayers also recently joined us at our annual stewardship workshop, where they led a set of fun and engaging icebreakers for teachers and stewards. Their team brought the same inclusive energy and community-centered spirit that they model in their youth programs.
If you’re part of a school community looking to bring more joy, connection, and active play into your space, we encourage you to consider partnering with PeacePlayers. They’re a great option to bring in with your mini-grant funding, and a meaningful way to activate your schoolyard for health, equity, and youth development.
Check out this video that gives a closer look at PeacePlayers’ engaging with students in their brand new TPL Community Schoolyard playground.
